Brattleboro Literary Festival

Windham County Reads is a Brattleboro Literary Festival partner, with responsibility for events featuring authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults. Come join us the weekend of October 14-16, 2011, and help us celebrate the Festival’s 10th anniversary! A complete schedule and all event descriptions and author biographies are posted on the Brattleboro Literary Festival website. In addition, programs are now available at many area book stores and libraries. Here are just a few of this year's many fine offerings.

Internationally renowned artist and author David Macaulay is featured at two events; one for students on Friday afternoon the 14th, and one for families on Saturday morning the 15th. Picture book creators Kevin Hawkes and Kate Messner showcase their newest books early Saturday afternoon, and authors Victoria Bond, T. R. Simon and Rita Williams-Garcia share their award-winning novels for middle grade readers late Saturday afternoon.

Saturday evening, teens and adults who love poetry will want to come out for Lenelle Moïse and her electrifying poetry performance, and late Sunday morning, author and screenwriter David Klass will talk about his wide-ranging writing career (YA novels, movies, television) at an event for adults and young adults. All Festival events are free, and times and venues for each one noted here are readily available on the Brattleboro Literary Festival website. Enjoy!
