Every June cyclists of all ages and abilities gather at the Brattleboro Petting Farm on Route 30 to ride for reading. Participants pay an entry fee ($30 for adults, $5 for ages 5-9, $10 for ages 10-15), choose one of three beautiful river valley routes (13, 32 or 60 miles) and bike with friends or family to help keep our award-winning Bookmobile program on the road.

Group times are staggered, with 60 milers leaving first at 8:30 a.m. for an enjoyable ride on paved back roads through Guilford, Leyden, Greenfield, Turners Falls, Montague, Millers Falls, Northfield, Gill, Vernon and back to the start. Those riding the 32 mile route (up the West River Valley and across the river to the paved Brookline loop and back) head out at 9 a.m.

The 13 mile family route to a popular covered bridge and swimming hole has a start time of 9:30. All cyclists enjoy free food and drink along the way, and those who turn in at least $50 in donations at the beginning of their ride are also eligible for prizes donated by bike shops.

This year's Tour de Book is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2011. We hope you'll save the date and join us -- last year's participants would love your company!
